Preparation before pressing and forming BMC material products
Release time:2023-07-27
As a wet premix, BMC materials contain volatile active monomers, so do not remove their packaging prematurely before use. Otherwise, these active monomers will evaporate from the BMC material, leading to a decrease in material fluidity and even performance degradation, leading to scrapping. At the same time, for materials that have been unpacked but have not been used up, they need to be resealed and packaged for future use in compression.
Usually, before use, it is necessary to determine the appropriate feeding amount based on the actual situation, and then calculate and weigh it first. Firstly, it is necessary to know the volume and density of the pressed product, plus the loss of burrs, flash edges, etc., and then calculate the feeding amount. The accurate calculation of the loading amount is directly related to ensuring the accuracy of the geometric dimensions of the product, preventing the occurrence of material shortages or waste caused by excessive materials.
For some production operations, this is also a good way to save materials and reduce costs. Secondly, before homework, it is necessary to preheat the mold. In fact, BMC material is a type of thermosetting reinforced plastic. For thermosetting plastics, the mold should be preheated to the required temperature before molding. This actual temperature is related to the type, formula, product shape and wall thickness, molding equipment used, and operating environment of the BMC molded plastic being pressed.
At the same time, it should be noted that in order to improve the strength and quality of BMC material products, it is often necessary to install inserts in the products. When it is necessary to set up inserts, the used inserts should be placed in the mold cavity before loading and pressing. The insert should meet the design requirements, and if it is a metal insert, it needs to be cleaned before use. For larger metal inserts, they need to be heated and preheated before placement to prevent defects such as cracking due to the large shrinkage difference between the material and the metal.
In addition, it is also necessary to maintain caution when installing the mold, because in BMC material pressing and forming, whether the installation operation is appropriate and reasonable not only affects the flow of the material in the mold cavity during pressing, but also affects the quality of the product.
